Nauti-Control firmware version 3.2.0 is now available for both SeaTalk and N2K controllers. This release mainly improves B&G / Navico NAC autopilot control and also includes the SeaTalk reliability and restart improvements from V3.1.1.
What’s Changed
B&G / Navico NAC Autopilots
- Fixed an issue where selecting Auto on some B&G NAC autopilot computers could lock onto an incorrect heading.
- Updated mode commands to match the command format used by B&G / Navico MFDs.
- Auto now selects compass heading hold.
- Standby disengages the autopilot.
- Wind selects apparent wind mode.
- Track selects GPS route / navigation mode.
- Tack sends the B&G Tack / Gybe command.
- ±1° and ±10° course changes are unchanged.
Wind, Track and Tack
- Wind: Requires the autopilot system to be configured as a sailboat.
- Track: Requires an active route on the chartplotter.
- Tack / Gybe: Requires Wind mode to be active. Gybe also requires Gybe Inhibit to be set to Allow Gybe.
SeaTalk Improvements
- Fixed the SeaTalk keepalive so incoming SeaTalk data starts correctly without needing an RF remote button press.
- Improved controller restart handling.
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi now shut down cleanly before the controller restarts.
How to Update
Choose the update method that matches the firmware version currently installed on your controller.
Currently Below Firmware V3.0 — USB Web Flasher Required
OTA updating is not available on older firmware versions. Controllers running firmware below V3.0 must first be updated over USB using the Nauti-Control Firmware Flasher.
- Open the Nauti-Control Firmware Flasher using Google Chrome.
- Connect the controller using a USB data cable.
- Select and flash the correct complete image for your controller: SeaTalk or N2K.
After updating to V3.0 or newer, future firmware and filesystem updates can be installed using the OTA method.
Currently on Firmware V3.0 or Newer — OTA Update
Controllers already running firmware V3.0 or newer can be updated over Wi-Fi from the controller’s web interface.
- Connect your phone, tablet or computer to the Nauti-Control Wi-Fi network.
- Open the controller web interface in your browser. When connected directly to the controller this is normally http://192.168.1.1.
- Open the Update page.
- Upload the firmware file for your controller.
- Wait for the update to complete and for the controller to restart.
- If the filesystem is shown as out of date, upload filesystem-v3.2.0.bin.
Firmware Files
- N2K Wireless: firmware-v3.2.0-n2k.bin
- ST Wireless: firmware-v3.2.0-seatalk.bin
- Filesystem: filesystem-v3.2.0.bin
Important Notes
- Make sure you install the correct firmware for your controller type.
- Do not install SeaTalk firmware on an N2K controller or N2K firmware on a SeaTalk controller.
- If the Update page reports that the filesystem is out of date, install the V3.2.0 filesystem package.
- V3.2.0 is particularly recommended for users with B&G NAC autopilot systems.
