v3.3 Released – Improved Instruments, Safer Tack & Garmin Reactor Support

Nauti-Control firmware v3.3 is now available for both SeaTalk and N2K controllers.

This release focuses on more reliable instrument data, safer Tack controls and improved Bluetooth performance, as well as adding support for Garmin Reactor autopilots and further improvements for B&G / Navico autopilot systems.

What’s Changed

One of the biggest changes in v3.3 is improved handling of missing or outdated instrument information.

If Nauti-Control has not received a valid value from your instruments, the apps will now show rather than displaying a misleading zero or leaving an old value frozen on screen.

  • Separate magnetic and true heading
  • Depth below transducer and depth below keel
  • Rudder angle display
  • Improved boat GPS position through Nauti-Control
  • Stale instrument values automatically disappear when the source stops updating
  • Improved true wind information

Smoother Instrument Updates

The latest apps can now receive instrument information from the controller more efficiently, giving smoother updates on phones and watches while reducing unnecessary Bluetooth traffic.

Existing V3 apps and controllers remain compatible, so you do not need to update every device at the same time.

Safer Tack and Gybe Controls

Additional protection has been added around Tack and Gybe commands to reduce the chance of activating one accidentally.

  • Phone and watch apps now ask you to confirm a Tack or Gybe.
  • Tack controls can be hidden completely if you do not use them.
  • On 433 MHz RF remotes, Tack must now be held for approximately two seconds.
  • A quick accidental press of the RF remote Tack button will do nothing.
  • Autopilot Lock continues to prevent Tack commands while the controls are locked.

Garmin Reactor/ GHP Support

Firmware v3.3 adds support for Garmin Reactor autopilots through the Nauti-Control N2K Wireless controller.

Garmin can now be selected as the autopilot type in Nauti-Control settings, allowing compatible Reactor systems to be controlled from Nauti-Control apps and remotes. Treat as BETA.

Improved B&G / Navico Support

Support for B&G / Navico autopilots has also been expanded.

Wind, Track, Tack and Gybe controls have been updated to better match the commands expected by compatible B&G Triton and Navico autopilot systems.

Boat GPS or Phone GPS

The mobile apps can now use GPS information received from the boat through Nauti-Control.

You can choose between Phone GPS and Boat Instruments as your preferred source. If boat GPS becomes unavailable or the Bluetooth connection is lost, the phone can fall back to its own GPS.

Autopilot Lock from an RF Remote

Toggle Autopilot Lock can now be assigned to a button on a compatible 433 MHz remote, making it easy to quickly lock or unlock the autopilot controls without opening the app.

Improved Bluetooth Reliability

Bluetooth connection handling has been improved, particularly when phones and watches move in and out of range.

Devices which disconnect should no longer leave a Bluetooth connection occupied, helping Nauti-Control remain available to reconnect throughout the day.

Other App Improvements

  • Pause and resume voyage recording
  • Improved map performance and memory usage
  • Night Mode improvements
  • Better handling when the controller restarts after changing settings
  • Improved Wear OS navigation
  • Improved Apple Watch GPS handling
  • Improved Garmin instrument and autopilot displays
  • Updated German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Swedish translations

How to Update

Choose the update method that matches the firmware version currently installed on your controller.

Currently Below Firmware V3.0 — USB Web Flasher Required

OTA updating is not available on older firmware versions. Controllers running firmware below V3.0 must first be updated over USB using the Nauti-Control Firmware Flasher.

  1. Open the Nauti-Control Firmware Flasher using Google Chrome.
  2. Connect the controller to your computer using a USB data cable.
  3. Select and flash the correct complete image for your controller: SeaTalk or N2K.

After updating to V3.0 or newer, future firmware and filesystem updates can be installed using the Wi-Fi OTA method.

Currently on Firmware V3.0 or Newer — OTA Update

Controllers already running firmware V3.0 or newer can be updated over Wi-Fi from the controller’s web interface.

  1. Connect your phone, tablet or computer to the Nauti-Control Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the controller web interface in your browser. When connected directly to the controller this is normally 192.168.1.1.
  3. Open the Update page.
  4. Upload the correct v3.3 firmware file for your controller.
  5. Wait for the update to complete and for the controller to restart.
  6. Return to the Update page and upload the v3.3 filesystem file.
  7. Allow the controller to restart again.

For this release, please update both the firmware and the filesystem.

Firmware Files

The public release is referred to as v3.3;

Important Notes

  • Make sure you install the correct firmware for your controller type.
  • Do not install SeaTalk firmware on an N2K controller or N2K firmware on a SeaTalk controller.
  • Install both the firmware and filesystem files for v3.3.
  • After updating, the controller Update / Version page should show both firmware and filesystem on the current version.
  • Garmin Reactor support requires an N2K Wireless controller running v3.3.
  • The new 2-second Tack hold applies to compatible 433 MHz RF remotes.
  • Your existing V3 apps and controller remain compatible even if you do not update everything at the same time.

v3.3 gives Nauti-Control more trustworthy instruments, safer autopilot controls, smoother Bluetooth operation and wider autopilot support — while remaining compatible with existing V3 controllers and apps.
